Jiplet Container 0.0.1a released

An open-source tool for creating server-side SIP applications

June 6, 2005,
Raleigh, NC.

We are pleased to announce the first release of the Jiplet Container. Jiplet Container 0.0.1a is an alpha release and has not been extensively tested for defects and the API is likely to evolve. It is provided as a preview release for developers who would like to try out the tool. The Jiplet Container is a java-based tool and has been tested on Windows and Linux systems.

Jiplet is short for Java SIP Servlet. The Jiplet Container is a development and runtime environment for creating server-side SIP applications. Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is being widely used  for providing telephone services over the Internet. The Jiplet Container provides a Java servlet-like development and run-time environment for developing, deploying and running SIP applications.  Many of its features are very similar to the Java servlet environment including support for servlet mapping, scoped variables, context handling, etc.
